Amazing Photo- Have You Seen This Weasel On The Back Of A Woodpecker?
One of my college friends showed me this, he says it hasn't been faked. Apparently, the weasel was attacking the woodpecker at the time and the woodpecker took off with it on its back. It looks unbelievable, but weasels are tenacious predators, so who knows?
CT x
That's incredible and amazing moment to capture! Sarah x
ReplyDeleteTalk about being in the right place at the right time! x
DeleteVery funny and stunning at the same time, it's possible..
ReplyDeleteAmanda xx
Apparently, the weasel got off and ran into the grass when the woodpecker landed. Bitten off more than it could chew... :o) xx
DeleteYes - I saw it tonight. I think the weasel wants a meal rather than a ride...
ReplyDeleteFemale weasels weigh less than a mars bar so it is possible.
DeleteI always think of Mars Bars as being heavy, but I've never eaten a weasel.
DeleteYes, what an incredible image - it does look like something from a fairy tale. How is your tendon doing CT?
ReplyDeleteI thought is was photo-shopped to begin with but apparently not. Tendon is much better for limiting computer and writing time, thank you for asking :o) Hopefully it'll be back to full health before long. What a ridiculous injury to have though! Hope you're all well xx
DeleteI saw it on the news and apparently the woodpecker landed on the ground and the weasel took off allowing the woodpecker to fly off relatively unscathed - I felt really sorry for the bird - he looked quite frightened in the photo.
ReplyDeleteI heard the same thing. Poor bird looked terrified. Glad it was a happy ending.
DeleteWhat an incredible photo! I feel for the woodpecker, but have read that he got away safely. I wonder how the weasel enjoyed his flight!
ReplyDeleteIt is an amazing shot. Makes me wonder what else happens in nature that we never see!
DeleteGoodness, poor woodpecker. And imagine if the weasel fell off and landed on someone's head. What a surprise that would be. I think I'd be screaming. CJ xx
ReplyDeleteIt is quite extraordinary isn't it? I wonder if the weasel regretted it? Rabbits are their more regular prey xx
DeleteOMG!!! Not sure what else you can say to that! xx
ReplyDeleteAmazing, isn't it? xx
Deletesaw it on the internet, but didn't know what the outcome was, thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteA happy ending, it seems, thank goodness!
DeleteSaw it on the dreaded Facebook CT, thought it looked a bit big for a Weasel compared to the Woodpecker but may it's real.
ReplyDeleteJohn
Apparently it's a proper photo. Talk about being in the right place at the right time! Whenever I've seen weasels before they've scarpered pronto :o)
DeleteIt boggles my brain because I cant help thinking it's either a tiny weasel or a massive woodpecker!! I think/thought that weasels are ferret sized!!
ReplyDeleteThere have been some hilarious mocked up photos following on from this on the t'internet !!
They're a lot smaller than you'd think- like elongated mice! I'll have to have a search for the funnies xx
DeleteAmazing - whatever next.
ReplyDeleteI know- extraordinary!
Deleteyes I was sent this shots also. Amazing
ReplyDeleteIt's got to be a candidate for wildlife shot of the year I reckon :o)
DeleteHave seen the photo a lot on Twitter - it really is amazing. I thought it may have been photoshopped but read somewhere that experts think its real :)
ReplyDeleteMe too but apparently it is real. Extraordinary!
Deleteps Meant to add it looks dry and mild overnight at the weekend - looking good for moth trapping :)
ReplyDeleteDefinitely. I will try to get the trap out here too. :o)
DeleteI thought I was seeing things.
ReplyDeleteOh wow!
It is the most amazing picture. In the right place at the right time :o)
DeleteI saw that and thought it was fake it was so incredible. Glad the bird survived. Amazing photo, I can't even manage to get a photo of a woodpecker without anything on its back!
ReplyDeleteThey are so hard to photograph well, the photographer must have thought all his Christmases had come at once. Glad both animals parted company whole and in good health :o)
DeleteThey showed it on our news over here last night. Amazing.
ReplyDeleteAfter all the gloom that infests the news I am glad they showed something extraordinary that had a happy ending :o)
