Teddy & Poppy Have Fun In The Snow

Yes! We have snow.

Not much, it has to be said, but still....snow!

According to my resident Weather Man, it started at 4 o'clock this morning and now we have about an inch. It's not snowing any more but it is cold so it has stayed put and there is enough to play in!

Poor Old L had a double vaccination last night, one jab in each arm poor boy, and this morning he woke up with a headache, a sore stomach, sore arms and all cold and shivery, so he is home. He must be feeling unwell because he's been praying for snow all winter yet he remains tucked up in bed beneath his homemade blanket snuggled up beside a hot water bottle fast asleep and he hasn't ventured outside at all :o(

Poppy has.

This is her first experience of snow and it has been a joy watching her :o)

For some reason, I get the feeling she likes it....

I tried my best to play with her but in the end a human just isn't up to dog standard, so she went off to get Teddy....

The garden birds are busy on the feeders. I don't worry so much about them in this kind of weather if I know I've stocked everything up. They are here in large numbers making the most of the free food this morning because although it isn't snowing any more, it also isn't melting :o)

After all that excitement both the dogs crashed out on their bed in the warm indoors which is where they still are, snuggled up together fast asleep.

Happy days, eh?

CT :o)

  1. Oh so cute!! Poppy looks so happy to be in the snow - the joy of youth and all that!! Your pictures of them both running in mid take off are wonderful, Teddy looks as though he enjoyed it too! They really are the most wonderful two little doggies!! Hope you have lots of fun playing - all three of you! Hope that L is feeling much better again very soon too! xx

    1. She absolutely loved it and had me in stitches while she rushed backwards and forwards :o) Ted got into the spirit of things as well, although he was mainly running between his two hiding stations of the bench and apple tree seat! xx

  2. Ahh so sweet, my friend always says that dogs are the 'gods of small things' and those pics are full of doggy joy. We have had little snow but heavy ice and frost, my dog took a great jump into a pool of thick ice and scared herself to death this morning! Happy days indeed.

  3. What lovely photos, I can really see the doggy joy. We've not had so much as a flake here, the sun is out at the moment. Poor L, that does sound nasty, I do hope he's all better soon. Have a good day (back to that essay now!) CJ xx

    1. She is an utter poppet, always smiling, always happy. Teddy adores her, even though he does get fed up being jumped on and having his ears chewed! x

  6. I just loved this and Poppy n Teddy are doing the same thing my Jack does everytime it snows. haha Such Fun, eh. We received another terrible blizzard all day yesterday and last nite - third one in a week. We have so much snow I do not know where to put it anymore. I have help coming today cause this is just way too much for me to move. Please pass on best wishes to L - hope recovery time is soon. Take care and don't slip in the snow.

    1. You must think we're mad getting so excited about an inch of snow when you've got- feet? I hope you will be OK and that Jack doesn't get lost in it! We'll happily take some of it here for a day or two for you :o)

    2. p.s. Forgot to say - We dawned our outdoor gear yesterday and set aboot raking the roof of the house, barn and mini barn. I did the two small barns and then helped with the big roof. The snow on the back roof of the house was well above my waist. You know what - its the most interesting sound when snow comes sliding down the roof once encouraged with a snow rake. There is almost a gutterable rumble and then A MIGHTY BIG THUMP when it hits the ground. It is a sound that amazes me and captures my attention. I don't know that you have ever heard the sound of moving snow like that - perhaps you have, but its really sharpens your ears. Have a wonderful day. And NO, I do not thing you are mad - getting excited about an inch of snow - snow is magical and the first snowfall of the year still excites me. lol

  7. The sight of snow this morning here made me suddenly excited and in mind to dash about like those two - but in reality it was enough staying upright whilst doing the goose pond and buckets.

  11. Dogs do love snow that's for sure - you have captured their joy beautifully. At one time we had a miniature daschund who came home after frolicking in the snow with huge snowballs on his ears and feet - which melted all over the kitchen floor. He cared not one jot.

  12. Our mad wee dog loves the snow too. After yesterday's blast, it's up to her stomach in the backyard and she has to take these flying leaps to get over the banks. It's a joy to watch.

  14. You have more snow than we had - we had a faint sprinkling which was gone by lunchtime. Love the dog pics - they look like they are having a whale of a time! I was about to comment on your previous post/s then I noticed this new post so will cheat and comment on them all here - what a great pic of the crazy Brimstone! Surpised that you see Green Woodpeckers in winter as I only see them in the summer. And the drawing/painting of Poppy is beautiful. :-)

    1. Thanks my dear :o) Huge fun in the snow this morning, although it has all melted away now. Mrs B is still there on the wall, I suspect hibernating again in the most conspicuous of places- it's right next to the bird feeders! x

  16. Hello CT

I absolutely love your post and photos especially the action shots.

Poppy certainly seems to be enjoying herself, and Ted also.
I love the photos of them playing together, but my favourite is the one where they are shattered, curled up in bed sleeping.
