Poppy Is One Tomorrow

It's hard to remember a time when Pop wasn't with us, and looking back through the pics it's also hard to remember her being this small and quiet....

And here's an extra one of Cousin Dylan, because he looks so cute in this pic. He is also nearly one and no longer has the folded over ears, more's the pity....

Accordingly, L and I went into Romsey this morning to get Pop a birthday present. I went to Scats (or 'Mole' as it's now called which I can't get used to at all) and came back with these...

Oh, said the man in the shop, is it Treat Time?
It's her birthday, I explained.
And you're buying her a card? He raised his eyebrows, ever so slightly.
I brazened it out and left feeling certain that half the customers in the queue behind would be convinced I was a crazy woman who should be locked up, while the other half (dog owners) would be smiling.

When I got home I showed it to M who said: is that meant to be a pin up for her?

I did have a funny video to show you of Poppy hanging on to the end of a broom being wielded by L yesterday when he was attempting to sweep the floor with it. Unfortunately it fell foul of the censors when what started out as a sweet video of boy and dog playing, ended up as a blue movie when Ted rushed in and became thoroughly over-excited by the sweeping. I had no idea brooms had that effect on him. L of course found the whole thing hysterically funny and collapsed into gales of laughter, probably not helped much be me squeaking at T to get off while at the same time yelling 'oh my god! I've made dog porn by accident!'

Here's the birthday girl....

We have a reasonably quiet weekend planned. Some gardening, some bulb planting, a BBQ with friends tomorrow (that should bring on the rain), and M is sorting out bike cleaning and servicing. He brought some special bike cleaner this morning which I have threatened Pop with if she rolls in any more fox poo.... I rather like the name. It reminds me of the time E.ON energy were running a campaign trying to persuade folks to sign up, one which was countered by the slogan F.OFF.....

I'll leave you with some shots around the garden from the last couple of days....

And finally, this was grown from the basal leaf of the one and only Cuckoo Flower we have growing in the garden. It is a plant beloved of Orange Tip flutters, so I was hoping to grow lots of them. All was going well until a White  Flutter discovered it in the greenhouse and now look what's happened. The buggers have ransacked it. This is the third batch of Butterfly children who've had a go at it. It looks beyond recovery to me, but we'll know for sure next Spring.....Grrrrrr :-(

Hope you all have a lovely weekend. The Elves seem to have had a go at Blogger again- I noticed some of your blogs and or posts have mysteriously vanished from my side bar. You're still appearing on my list though so I've not unfollowed you, don't worry! Hopefully it'll settle down and sort itself out in due course.

    1. Yes, sorry about that- I did wonder whether I should include it, but hoped you'd all take it in the spirit in which it was meant, rather than be disgusted and appalled! x

  3. The video that wasn't any more sounds hilarious!!! You certainly get a lot of entertainment from your two don't you. Happy Birthday to Poppy, I understand the present and card thing! Hope that you have a great weekend and that it stays dry for your BBQ. Hope that you get your blog list thing sorted out again too, so annoying when that sort of thing happens, no idea if I am on your list, but I am still here and posting even if I don't appear on your list!! xx

    1. It did make us laugh :o) Blogger seems to have these gremlins from time to time. Very annoying but I suppose it's a small thing to put up with given how well it works most of the time x

  12. Happy Birthday Poppy, where has the time gone. I had forgotten how tiny she was! It's so good that Teddy and Poppy are such friends. I remembered Teddy wondering what on earth was going on when she first arrived! He obviously didn't want us to see her moment in the spotlight! Sarah x

    1. Hard to believe she's nearly been with us a whole year, and you're right she was soooo tiny wee! Teddy adores her now after some initial reservations....possibly a little too much, considering the broom event.... :o) xx

    1. She was a cutie pie when a baby, for sure :o) Now more of a scampish rascal.....
I thought you of all people would appreciate the dock bugs- they afford me huge hilarity at the moment, either all lined up on patches of sunlight on the rhubarb leaves or else sheltering underneath them in a little cluster. So sweet!
